SUMMARY:24 hours of Lemons
DESCRIPTION:WHAT IS 24 HOURS OF LEMONS?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAn endurance car racing series on dedicated road courses for $500 cars. Check out our YouTube\, Instagram\, and Facebook to witness the spectacle. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHAT’S A $500 CAR?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIt’s a car bought and track-prepped for $500 or less (not including safety equipment\, brakes\, and wheels/tires). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDO $500 CARS REALLY EXIST?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbsolutely. See a $1000 car on Craigslist? Bring $400 cash and a 12er of Old Milwaukee. Nine times out of ten\, you’ll be driving it home. Find a Lemons car. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHAT CARS ARE ELIGIBLE?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPretty much any four-wheeled machine that was street-legal when made and passes our safety inspection today. Smog\, insurance\, or title aren’t required. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHAT IF I SPENT MORE THAN $500?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf our judges decide you spent over the $500 limit\, they can assign negative laps to your standings. Your cheaty-ass Spec Miata will still start the race when the green drops–it just may be working Lap -629. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHAT KIND OF SPECIAL CAR RACING EQUIPMENT IS NEEDED?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCars need a legal 6-point or better cage\, a race seat\, race belts\, an onboard fire suppression system\, a kill switch\, and either a 100% stock fuel system or pro-quality fuel cell. Drivers need a legal helmet\, head-and-neck restraint\, and fire-resistant suit/gloves/shoes. See the Rules to get the particulars. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHOW MUCH WILL IT COST?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you want to go wheel-to-wheel car racing\, it doesn’t get much cheaper. Entry fees are listed here. You can borrow the safety gear from a teammate\, or rent it from various online vendors\, or buy a full set from us. Sleeping bags\, gas\, bologna sandwiches\, and car-building costs vary hugely. There are great threads about cage costs\, and fab shops on the Lemons Forum. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCAN I MODIFY THE CAR?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUnless it puts you afoul of a safety rule\, any mod is allowed. Just remember\, it’ll count toward the build total\, so be ready to talk price with the judges. Absurd non-performance-enhancing mods are usually exempted: Don’t lose sleep about penalty laps incurred for the costs of putting a Suzuki Sidekick inside a pop-top camp trailer or a Dodge slant-6 in your E30 BMW. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHERE CAN I GET ANSWERS AND HELP?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHit the Lemons Forum to learn from other racers. See the Lemons Registration Help page for help getting signed up. Look at the How to Not Fail Tech guide for car-safety questions\, and the Lemons Rulebook for everything else. And if that doesn’t do it\, just drop us a line. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDO I NEED A RACE LICENSE OR PRIOR EXPERIENCE?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNope — just a valid street license that you can physically show us onsite (sorry\, no photos or electronic copies). That plus an annual Lemons Competition Membership are all you need to race. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIS EVERYONE PART OF A TEAM?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYep — all 24 Hours of Lemons entries have at least two drivers and any number of crew members. Car racing takes a village. Or\, at least you and a buddy. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHOW DO I START A TEAM AND GET SIGNED UP?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe captain invites drivers and crew to join the team. Then the captain (that’s Olde English for cat herder) makes sure they properly register\, organizes the build\, and/or cracks the whip on getting it all done. Don’t have any friends dumb enough to join you? You can check out the matchmaking section on our forum\, sign up as a solo driver on our OkStupid matchmaking tool\, or check out the matchmaking Facebook group. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWILL MY TEAM GET ACCEPTED?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProbably! For starters\, don’t miss any deadlines—just check the schedule for the important ones. After that\, we look for interesting cars and Team Concepts (you’ll fill all of that out during the application process). Just convince us that you don’t suck\, and you’re in. Oh yeah\, and rookie teams get accepted automatically. We figure you newbies have plenty of other stuff to worry about. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCAN I JUST COME AND WATCH?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbsolutely—buy spectator tickets right here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHAT THE HECK IS THE I.O.E.?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe I.O.E. (Index of Effluency) is the grand prize awarded at each 24 Hours of Lemons race. Using a proprietary calculation of how bad a Lemons entry is versus how high it finished\, race organizers bestow the award on only the most worthy teams. Winners of the I.O.E. enjoy the highest honors (a low bar\, we know) of any Lemons trophy. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHAT AM I GETTING MYSELF INTO?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou have no idea. Check out our YouTube\, Instagram\, and Facebook to observe from a relatively safe distance. \nFriday\, 26 June 2026\n7am: Gate registration open\n10am-5pm (with lunch break from 12-1pm): Optional track testing. The cost is $375 per team if you register online before the database closes. Onsite reg pricing is $425. Testing is limited to registered Lemons cars with registered Lemons drivers. No passengers allowed. To register online\, click “edit” in the “other info” section of your online registration and select the testing option. The cost will be added to your team fees.\nNoon-5pm: BS & Tech. Teams are assigned specific tech times. That’s your time. No changes. Click the tech times button (below the track map on this page) the week of the race to view your team’s time.\nNoon-5pm: Gear tech\n9pm: Gate registration closes (no armband\, no entry) \nSaturday\, 27 June 2026\n7am: Gate registration open\n9am: Mandatory drivers meeting\n9:30am: Grid time–show up soon!\n10am-6pm: Race Session I \nSunday\, 28 June 2026\n7am: Gate registration open\n9am-3:30pm: Race Session II\n4pm: Awards\n7pm: Scram

SUMMARY:Dart Kart Club
DESCRIPTION:Go-Kart racing has been a part of the Ohio racing scene for over fifty years.  A fast-paced\, competitive sport\, kart racing is probably the most economical way to break into auto racing.  Top drivers such as Michael Schumacher\, Tony Stewart\, Juan Pablo Montoya\, and Danica Patrick started their racing careers in karting. \nKart racing is a widespread sport with tracks located nationwide.  The Dart Kart Speedway Club runs enduro races throughout the summer at tracks such as the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course located between Cleveland and Columbus in Lexington\, Ohio.  The 2.4 mile road course allows for an average speed of around 70 mph with a top speed of around 130 mph. \nThere are three major forms of Kart racing in the USA.  Sprint karts compete on short\, twisty tracks and the races usually last about ten minutes with the karts reaching a top speed of about 60 mph.  One of the newest forms of kart racing which has been gaining in popularity is oval/dirt track racing. Driving modified sprint karts with specially grooved tires\, these drivers compete on short dirt ovals in a scaled down version of large sprint cars.  Enduro karts are specially designed and built to compete on high speed road racing circuits.  The driver lays down for better aerodynamics and speeds of over 125 mph can be attained in such karts. These karts run on most major tracks including Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course\, Daytona International Speedway\, Virginia International Raceway\, and more.  The races are generally forty-five minutes in length with a standing LeMans-style start.  Each form of kart racing has a variety of classes to choose from\, allowing a place for almost anyone to race.  There are stock motor classes for the beginning karter along with modified twin engine classes for the advanced karter.  The juniors have classes of their own which allow young drivers to gain experience as well.  This variety in classes offers the option for the whole family to be involved either as drivers or crew members. \nThe Dart Kart Speedway Club was founded in 1958 with about 60 members.  During the first few years\, DKC ran sprint races on a 1.2 mile asphalt track named Dart Kart Speedway.  By 1964\, enduro racing was added at the nearby Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.  During the late 60’s\, the club was typically running 8 sprint races and 5 enduro races per year.  From 1965-1973\, one of the enduro races was a 250 mile race.  In 1970\, the sprint track was closed due to factory expansion by Rupp Mfg. Co\, on whose property the track was located.  Since that time\, the club has concentrated on promoting enduro kart racing.  The Dart Kart Speedway Club was involved in organizing the World Karting Association in 1972 and has run many WKA National races since that time.  From 1976-1980\, approximately $20\,000 in prize money was awarded to top placing karters in the yearly money series.  In 1983\, DKC was invited to run an exhibition race at the CART/PPG Indy Car race at Mid-Ohio which gave the sport of karting much needed exposure. \nIn the future the club hopes to continue promoting enduro racing at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course as well as other tracks around the country
